About

Sarah is a Los Angeles native singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, who shapeshifts effortlessly from smoky, powerhouse belter to crystal clear, classically trained section vocalist. She's performed everywhere from St. Peter's Bacilica in Vatican City to Shinto shrines in Tokyo, redwood forest festivals to concert halls in Hanoi, building a career defined by adventurous artisty and cross-cultural connection. Back home in Echo Park, she runs a vibrant teaching studio where music meets community (and often, the affections of her certified therapy cat, Louise).

Music

The music I love lives at a crossroads of cultures and histories. I hear the blues carrying the weight of African American spirituals and work songs from the Deep South. I feel rhythm and blues bringing gospel fire into city streets, pulsing through Detroit, Memphis, and Philadelphia. Americana’s patchwork of folk ballads, honky-tonk grit, and blues swagger reminds me of the borderlands, where traditions mix freely. Bluegrass, with its Scotch-Irish fiddle lines and African banjo roots, mirrors the way music travels and transforms. Folk’s ancient ballads and protest anthems speak to the resilience of people whose stories deserve telling. And jazz, born in New Orleans from African rhythms, blues phrasing, and Western harmonic tradition, is the sound of freedom and invention. These traditions, though born in different places, feel like family to me: living, intertwined, and carrying the past into every note of today.
