About
Hailed by New York Concert Review as “a truly first-rate ensemble,” Pegasus: The Orchestra, founded in 2017 by Karén Hakobyan, is a dynamic nonprofit professional orchestra based in New York. Pegasus empowers rising musicians, promotes innovative repertoire, and fosters creativity in an inclusive environment. Fanfare magazine called their performance of Brahms’s Fourth Symphony “a shattering experience.” Known for versatility and artistic excellence, Pegasus brings together diverse musicians and audiences. The orchestra was in residence at Mana Contemporary for its first four years, offering a variety of performances, including chamber music, solo piano, and jazz, often with a focus on youth outreach. The ensemble also partners with the Monira Foundation, creating a digital stage during the pandemic. Highlights include a Lincoln Center debut featuring all five Rachmaninoff piano concertos, concerts at Merkin Hall and other top venues. Pegasus has earned praise from many media outlets.
