About

Established 🗓️ August 2025, our name, “Gratia,” is latin for Grace. Typically, you’ll find most of us playing hymns on Sundays at Grace Community Church. However, as we desire to grow musically, we are challenging ourselves to learn and perform musical masterpieces by history’s greatest composers 🐐 for audiences to enjoy across Los Angeles!

Our backgrounds are varied- John and Debbie are grad students at UCLA law and APU (for viola), while Cecille, Matt, Ksenia and Mila have careers in government, medicine, programming and music.

We love music so much. You’re invited to be a part our musical journey. Come to our next concert and you’ll hear us pour our hearts out. We can’t wait to perform for you!

Sincerely,
Gratia String Sextet

Music

The music we will be performing is quite special. It’s romantic and classical music from the 1800s, that have stood the test of time- legendary beloved classics!

Have you ever heard of a string sextet? Our group, a string sextet, is a little unusual - not too small, but not too big, but definitely unique! We are made up of 6 strings! We consist of 2 violins, 2 violas and 2 cellos. 🎻🎻🎻🎻🎻🎻

Some of the most amazingly beautiful chamber pieces ever written are for string sextet! To start, for our first program we will be performing the beautiful, intricate and soaring Brahms String Sextet in G which is absolutely gorgeous! Next, we will move on to the boisterously energetic Souvenir de Florence by Tchaikovsky. These pieces are challenging, but it’s been so worth the effort preparing the music and bringing the notes to life. We are enjoying the entire music making process of learning these intricate works by Mr. Brahms and Mr. Tchaikovsky. 🔥
