About

NYC-based Peruvian American, Giancarlo Llerena, is a pianist, collaborator, and teaching artist. He is pursuing a Master of Music in Collaborative Piano at Juilliard as a Kovner Fellow. An avid performer, he has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, the Kravis Center, and more. Recently, he has appeared in performances with violinist Joshua Bell and soprano Larisa Martinez.

Giancarlo has attended the Tanglewood Institute and the Aspen Music Festival on fellowship, and has earned top prizes in competitions, including the National YoungArts Competition. In 2025, he will join Classic Lyric Arts as a Fellowship Pianist, coaching and performing with singers in Italy and France. Committed to music education and community engagement, he holds multiple outreach fellowships at Juilliard. He currently studies with Lydia Brown and earned his Bachelor of Music with Academic Honors from Juilliard under Veda Kaplinsky and Julian Martin.

Music

I play mostly traditional classical repertoire, some of favorite being Brahms, Strauss, Schumann, Piazzolla, Debussy, and more! The romantic period, as you can see, is my most favorite and I am always grateful to be joined by equally passionate collaborators who would love to tell these stories by my side. But of course, my solo repertoire represents this as well, so I am always enthusiastic about using my soloistic voice whenever possible!
