Pianist and composer Jake Hart will be performing his latest solo piano composition by memory. The piece is a continuation of a project titled Collage. It utilizes creative borrowing from a multitude of different composers and gives the listener the feeling that the music is completely improvised.

After an intermission, pianist and composer Ethan Iverson will perform a solo piano set. Iverson is known for his intellectually engaging style, while blending deep knowledge of jazz tradition with a modern, adventurous approach.

Jake Hart is a pianist and composer signed with Sunnyside Records, which released his debut album, Collage, on May 3rd, 2024. The album received praise in the Los Angeles Jazz Scene where the reviewer Scott Yanow wrote how “the two Parts sound spontaneous and bridge the gap between modern classical music and jazz.” In addition, Jake has also participated in a multitude of international competitions and has performed at notable venues including Birdland Jazz Club, Mezzrow and the Umbria Jazz Festival.

Ethan Iverson is an American jazz pianist, composer, and writer best known as a founding member of the influential trio The Bad Plus, where he helped redefine the modern piano trio by blending jazz with rock, classical, and avant-garde influences. Since leaving the group in 2017, Iverson has built an acclaimed solo career, recording for Blue Note and collaborating with leading jazz artists. He is also a respected jazz critic and educator, known for his insightful writing on music history and improvisation.
