For this Groupmuse, Rule of Three (flute, viola, and harp) presents a program of primarily contemporary classical works by composers who deliberately step away from the sound-world associated with Debussy’s iconic Sonata for Flute, Viola, and Harp. Featuring music by contemporary voices such as Timo Andres, Jessica Meyer, and Ellis Ludwig-Leone (among others), this evening highlights alternative languages for the trio: sharper contours, new harmonic logics, unexpected textures, and a reimagined sense of lyricism.
