American Tapestry reimagines 250 years of history as a celebration of resilience, creativity, and community. Featuring works by leading contemporary American composers, this concert answers the question of what it means to be American through the lens of classical music. We will feature the piano trio of Indian-American composer Reena Esmail, who combines Indian and Western classical traditions, Mason Bates, whose bluegrass inspired work "String Band" harkens back to his upbringing in Virginia, and Korean-American Nicky Sohn's work "Rodeo," inspired by her love of the very American experience of the Houston Rodeo as an first-generation immigrant.
