Full program notes

“Mano a Mano: Arias in Dialogue” is a one-hour concert program that places iconic European arias in dialogue with Spanish and Latin American counterparts—introducing classical Hispanic repertoire to new audiences. Through themes of identity, love, and community, the program draws connections between operatic classics and often-overlooked Latin American gems. This season features seven world premieres of newly arranged works by Laura Intravia, specially commissioned by mezzo-soprano Fanny Lora, and performed with a Boston-based chamber ensemble, each concert includes a brief post-performance discussion to foster cultural exchange and community dialogue across New England and beyond.

Historical context

Classical Spanish and Latin American music has historically been underperformed in the USA. I am dedicated to bringing this rich repertoire to the forefront, showcasing its beauty, captivating rhythms, and expressive melodies that narrate the diverse stories of the Americas.
