A Narrative Recital Honoring Resilience, Identity & the Unbroken Spirit of Black Womanhood. She Who Rises traces the spiritual, emotional, and ancestral journey of the Black woman through art song and
spirituals by Black composers. Beginning in sorrow and displacement, the recital moves through
yearning, awakening, restoration, and remembrance, culminating in the triumphant affirmation of an
anchored soul.
