Full program notes
For these living room shows, I like to share music from my solo piano album, Dust—originals and covers from pop and jazz that feel close and personal. My classical roots, jazz training, and love for ambient music blend into a warm, cozy atmosphere, like gathering around a campfire. I strive to offer a quiet escape from everyday life, creating an open space where we can sit with the music together and breathe. I released Dust alongside 12 short films shot in the California desert with filmmaker Matthew Palmer. These films and music became an art show, which was exhibited for 6 weeks at the Fourth Wall Gallery of Contemporary Art in Oakland in Jan/ Feb 2025. When the space allows, I bring this visual layer to the performance.
Historical context
My classical training began in France when I was 6, giving me an invaluable foundation in harmony, composition, and technique. My approach to the piano is rooted in a deep commitment to touch and sound. My jazz education in turn opened me to improvisation’s rich history, enriched by the chance to perform with and learn from giants like Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, and Terence Blanchard. They taught me to blend structure with freedom, a conversation I explore in Dust. My love for ambient music, inspired by 20th-century pioneers like Brian Eno and Ryuichi Sakamoto, adds a modern, ethereal layer to my performances.
