Full program notes
Bach's Goldberg Variations are the pinnacle of the composer's unique genius in writing counterpoint and glorious melody. Bach has influenced so many other composers, including the little-known music of the great French pianist Robert Casadesus, and the fun-loving and brilliant Peter Shickele, otherwise known as P.D.Q. Bach. This program will include a set of eight sparkling, short etudes by Casadesus and a prelude and fugue by P.D.Q. Bach, as well as a portion of the Goldberg Variations.
