Massive stars don't really die. They are just reabsorbed into the universe from whence they came. But not before making a really big fuss that we call "supernovas". They're the hottest, brightest things in the universe, and that alone makes them an ideal allegory for the upcoming Massivemuse at the Armory in Somerville. Moreover, it's featuring the Nova Fellows, so that's kind of like "supernova", and it'll be a Massivemuse, which is kind of like "massive star." In short, we're pleased with imagery. On to the press-release for the sure-to-be-mind-blowing event:
Oh, but also, quickly: There will be a cash bar, floor seating, christmas lights, an armory (?!?) and all of the wild good times that makes us Groupmuse.
Symphony Nova an Groupmuse team up for a Massivemuse at the Somerville Armory, a historic building with excellent acoustics and a cash bar inside the concert space. The concert will feature music inspired by dance, written by 20th century composers and living composers. The program is curated by Symphony Nova Fellows Hunter Bennett, Lizzie Burns and Maureen Heflinger and features music for a variety of chamber configurations. We encourage the audience to mingle and socialize during breaks between sets.
About Symphony Nova
Symphony Nova creates opportunities for talented music school graduates to present fine concerts, develop professionally, and serve the Boston community. We hold four concerts per year in the beautiful Old South Church in Copley Square, Boston. Our Music Director, Lawrence Isaacson, is a vibrant presence in the classical music world. He is known for inspiring audiences with exciting, interactive and creative concerts, helping them to discover the classical tradition’s depth, beauty and relevance today.
Symphony Nova hand-selects Nova fellows annually. We aim to develop self-sufficient musicians who will use their classical music background to explore culturally relevant opportunities to connect with today’s shifting artistic world. With the many changes happening in the traditional business and artistic model of today’s symphony orchestra, we want to be on the crest of the tide – not only to ensure the success of our musicians, but also the longevity of this important cultural medium.
