Twelfth Night, joined by the sensational Yi-heng Yang on fortepiano, takes flight this October with two works inspired by the feathered world. Mozart’s Piano Concerto in G major is forever linked to his beloved pet starling, which he delightedly recorded singing a version of one of its themes. Haydn’s spirited “Chicken” Symphony struts, clucks, and pecks its way to a well-deserved nickname. Mozart’s pet meets Haydn’s poultry in a program brimming with wit, charm, and musical mischief.
