Born from an unexpected experiment in Berlin in 1704, the vivid blue pigment quickly became one of Europe’s most coveted colors, spreading from Berlin to London and beyond after its monopoly was broken in 1724.

Set against this remarkable history is music by Graun, Handel, Schaffrath, Pepusch, Quantz, J.C. Bach, and C.P.E. Bach, performed by Natalie Rose Kress (violin), Sarah Stone (cello), Stephanie Corwin (bassoon), and Gabe Shuford (harpsichord).
