Hosts
Pianist and composer George Kahn is one of the few living jazz artists who captures the West Coast sound of the 1950s and 60s. Drawing inspiration from legendary figures like Dave Brubeck, Ramsey Lewis, Joe Sample, Vince Guaraldi, and Wynton Kelly, Kahn's music possesses a contemporary edge while staying true to the spirit of jazz.
Tonight George will be joined by Robert Kyle (sax), David Hughes (bass) and MB Gordy (drums). Please join us for a classy evening of instrumental jazz, both standards and originals
What's the music?
Sister Sadie - Horace Silver
Going Baroque - George Kahn
Three To Get Ready - Dave Brubeck
I Feel Pretty - Leonard Bernstein
Freedom Vessel - George Kahn
Eleanor Rigby - The Beatles
and more!
Where does this music come from?
This concert will harken back to the days when jazz quartets travelled the country playing week-long gigs in clubs across the country, often in basements of restaurants or back rooms in bars. The improvisatory nature of jazz brings the music to life in the 21st Century.
