I’m excited to welcome pianist Simon Karakulidi for a masterful Groupmuse recital in my home, featuring the romantic and impressionist works of Chopin, Scriabin and Ravel.
We will gather beginning at 6:30PM for drinks and light apps, and everyone will have a chance to meet the artist. Then, around 7:15PM, the recital will start. Please take care to arrive prior to 7:00PM, as late arrivals will not be be able to come in until intermission. Thanks!
A native of Siberia, Simon Karakulidi has been living throughout the United States since 2016. He originally came to study with Van Cliburn Competition gold medalist Stanislav Ioudenitch and later earned a Master’s degree from the Yale School of Music.
Earlier in his career, Simon received more than twenty prizes at international competitions. Shortly before stepping back from public performance, he gave a series of concerts in Europe, culminating in a recital at Salle Cortot in Paris. In addition to winning First Prize at the Concours Piano Campus in France, he was awarded five special prizes and the opportunity to record a CD.
Since relocating to Philadelphia, where he runs a private teaching studio, Simon has focused on refining his artistic approach. His recent interest in intimate, private performances seeks to rediscover the spirit of the salon tradition popularized in 19th-century Paris.
