🎵🔥 Get ready for a spectacular weekend of modern and classical brilliance as Salonen conducts Boulez & Bartok at The New York Philharmonic.
Under the bold and visionary baton of Esa-Pekka Salonen, this electrifying program features swirling modern textures, razor-sharp winds, and full orchestral brilliance. The centerpiece is Boulez’s Rituel in memoriam Bruno Maderna — a mesmerizing, ritualistic tapestry of repeating motives and shifting sonorities, here reimagined with immersive choreography by Benjamin Millepied and the L.A. Dance Project onstage.
Opening the evening is Stravinsky’s *Octet for Winds — a crisp neoclassical gem, light on its feet and taut with contrapuntal energy.
And the powerhouse finale: Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra — one of the most thrilling orchestral showpieces ever written, showcasing every section of the orchestra in virtuosic interplay, from fiery strings to bold brass, from haunting silhouettes to triumphant climaxes.
✨ Thanks to Groupmuse’s Nights Out program, you can grab discounted tickets for October 10 & 11 — a unique chance to experience Salonen’s dramatic vision and these masterworks live at a better price. Don’t miss out — reserve your spot, bring friends, and let the music carry you into a night of bold sound, motion, and deep emotional impact!
