Ian Scarfe is well known in the Bay Area and internationally for his artistry and skill at the piano. When combined with one of the world's finest pianos, a Fazioli F212 grand, his abilities are even more remarkable. Please joins us for this Saturday afternoon musical journey with Ian.
Ian is the founder and director of the Trinity Alps Chamber Music Festival. As a soloist, Ian's appearances with orchestras have come to prominently feature the music of Beethoven. For more information about Ian and to listen to performances, check out his website at https://www.ianscarfe.com/bio.html
And, to see and hear him in person reserve a spot.
There will be a light snack and beverage reception following the performance.
What's the music?
J. S. Bach - Selections from the Well-Tempered Clavier. An orderly and wondrous collection of Preludes and Fugues in all the major and minor keys.
Johannes Brahms - Selections from the late piano pieces, Op. 116, 117, 118, 119. Intermezzos, Ballades, Rhapsodies, etc. Lots of nostalgic yearning blended with sweet and sometimes strange romanticism.
Philip Glass - Selections from music from the 1990s, including the two books of "Piano Etudes", and my own piano transcriptions from "The Dracula Quartets", which were written as a soundtrack to the original 1931 film starring Bela Lugosi as Count Dracula.
