Hosts

George K. Superhost

Welcome to Casa Kahn for an evening of 50's and '60s jazz with the George Kahn Quintet, an all-star band of LA-based musicians. In addition to George on piano, the band will feature Nolan Shaheed on trumpet and Chuck Manning on sax (both Pasadena/Altadena residents).
We will be playing music from some of George Kahn's eleven (!!) albums, as well as songs by Horace Silver, Cal Tjader and Lennon/McCartney.

It will be a night to remember - AND there will be "Pi" on the break! Bring one to share, if you like.

What's the music?

Sister Sadie - Horace Silver
Going Baroque - George Kahn
Night And Day - Cole Porter
Soul Sauce - Cal Tjader
I Feel Pretty - Leonard Bernstein
Quarantuni Time - George Kahn
Eleanor Rigby - The Beatles
and more!

Where does this music come from?

This concert will harken back to the days when jazz quintets travelled the country playing week-long gigs in clubs across the country, often in basements of restaurants or back rooms in bars. The improvisatory nature of jazz brings the music to life in the 21st Century.
