About
Marisa Dolcimascolo is a native New Yorker and dedicated flutist currently pursuing her Master of Music in Flute Performance at Queens College’s Aaron Copland School of Music under the guidance of esteemed faculty Judith Mendenhall and Michael Alampi. A summa cum laude graduate of Binghamton University, she holds dual degrees in Flute Performance and Chinese Studies.
Her professional experience encompasses orchestral, chamber, and theatrical performances, including regular substitute positions with Protestra Orchestra, chamber ensemble work around the NYC area, and a featured ensemble role in Tandem Pictures' short film 'Thoughts and Prayers'. During her undergraduate studies, she focused on the synthesis of Eastern and Western musical traditions, premiering original compositions and collaborating with the Confucius Institute to reinterpret traditional Chinese music. In addition to performing, she teaches private flute lessons to students throughout the NYC area.
Music
I primarily perform music from the classical tradition, spanning all eras—from Baroque and Classical to Romantic, and Contemporary works. Alongside these, I have a deep interest in adapting traditional Chinese flute music for the Western concert flute, exploring its expressive nuances and unique tonal colors.
Composers I enjoy performing and programming include:
Bach, Telemann, Mozart, CPE Bach, Doppler, Debussy, Karg-Elert, Villa-Lobos, Otaka, and Coleman
