About
Pianist Kyungwha Chu performs as soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States, Canada, Asia and Europe. Her performances have included appearances at New York’s 92nd street Y, Kennedy Center Washington, Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall New York. Ms. Chu has appeared as a soloist with Seoul Symphony Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. In the Fall of 2018, Ms. Chu directed the Stony Brook University Symphony Orchestra in Beethoven’s Fourth Piano Concerto, performing as the soloist in the conductor-less concert. She participated in the Professional Training Workshop at Carnegie Hall where she worked with Yo-Yo Ma and Pamela Frank. In the same year she was one of seven students of Leon Fleisher to perform all 32 Beethoven piano sonatas in one day marathon concert. In 2021, she made her debut in Naples, Italy as a winner of Sigimund Thalberg International Piano Competition. She is currently a DMA candidate and a teaching assistant at Stony Brook University.
Music
A wide range of classical repertoire, spanning from Bach to Ligeti and George Crumb, with a particular preference for German Romantics and French Impressionists.
