About

Cacie Miller has relied on the sounds and repertoire of the piano to help her make sense of the world around her since a young age. She is drawn to compositions packed with colorful storytelling that seem to push through the edges of reality. Cacie spearheads Composing the Climate, a project centering on performer-driven commissioned chamber works that prompt emotional processing of the climate crisis.
Cacie holds degrees from the University of Illinois (DMA), the Eastman School of Music (MA) and Houghton University (MM in piano). Cacie performs regularly throughout the Chicago area, and has recently played at Constellation, Elastic Arts, Experimental Sound Studios, Fourth Presbyterian Church, the Krannert Center, the Nineteenth Century Club, and PianoForte Studios.

Music

I play and improvise classical and contemporary piano music, both solo and in duo and trio groups with strings players. Recent programs include music by Elizabeth Jacquet de la Guerre, Frederic Chopin, Johannes Brahms, Clara Schumann, Reena Esmail and Lera Auerbach. I love to group pieces together in ways that tell a story or suggest an emotional journey to the listener.
