As an infant, Dani Ekbote would crawl into his father’s lap while he taught tabla lessons, the rhythms of the Divine School of Music in Irvine forming the backdrop of his earliest memories. One day, he woke up and instinctively played a complex composition—without ever having been taught. His tabla journey had begun.

Raised in the Ajarada Gharana under his father, Shri Hemant Ekbote, Dani continues his training under the legendary. Pandit Yogesh Samsi. From age nine, he was a regular invitee to Ustad Zakir Hussain’s exclusive workshop, refining his craft alongside top young tabla players. His performance career has taken him across India, Canada, Latin America, and nearly every major U.S. city with an Indian music presence. Dani also collaborates with jazz artists expanding his rhythmic language through fusion projects.
